Even if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar wins the ADC presidential primary, the Obidient Movement Worldwide’s National Coordinator Tanko Yunusa has stated that the movement will respect the decision of the primary and stay within the party.
During his appearance on Channels Television today, Yunusa made this known, stressing that the Obidient Movement will make choices “democratically” within the ADC and that it is devoted to democratic ideals.
He claims that former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi was instrumental in the ADC’s meteoric rise to national prominence, calling the group a “vehicle” that had been “finally set in motion” before to Obi’s entrance.
It gained momentum when individuals agreed, with all due respect to the ADC. His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi has given a great deal of excitement to the ADC vehicle, which was kicked off yesterday with just one ignition kick,” Yunusa stated.
His statement further stated that the Obidient Movement consists of “intelligent youth who are demanding clarity and good governance,” and that millions of its adherents are prepared to join the ADC.
This is their official stance, and they want to flood the ADC with millions of people. According to him, that is confirmation.
By pushing Nigerians to use their “positive executive power” to recover the country through democratic engagement, Yunusa further accused the current government of allegedly employing what he called “negative executive power” against Nigerians.
According to Yunusa, the ADC presidential primary would be a fair contest with other contenders like Atiku Abubakar. However, he is confident that Obi will win because of the amount of support he receives.
On the basis of democratic principles, we will go into the race and compete fairly with all of the other candidates. With the massive teaming population he is bringing into the ADC, we anticipate that Mr. Peter Obi will ultimately prevail,” he stated.
No matter what happens, he stressed, the Obedient Movement will stay inside the party.
“We will stay and provide the party with the democratic renewal it needs,” Yunusa further stated.
Several prominent politicians, including past governors, senators, House of Representatives members, and major officials of the National Assembly, were present at a recent political meeting in Enugu, and Yunusa stated that they all supported his decision to join the party.
It was brought to his attention that Victor Umeh, a former APGA National Chairman and senator from Anambra South, had joined the ADC. He went on to say that Umeh had been the event’s master of ceremonies and had been an active participant in all that had gone before.
The host of the Enugu ceremony, where he and other South-East political figures had convened to officially announce their support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), did not respond to the invitation. Your choice of Senator Victor Umeh, the former chair of the APGA, as your Master of the Ceremony says it everything.
The motion was shifted to an affirmative position for everyone in the hall, and it was affirmed in one sweep—all because he asked for it, Yunusa said.
In addition, he verified that Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has formally switched allegiances to the ADC, and he said that fans should anticipate additional defectors in the next weeks when they receive ADC membership cards.
As Yunusa pointed out, the Obidient Movement is gaining support both domestically and abroad, which will make it a formidable opponent in the upcoming ADC elections.
