Two suspected bandits who are allegedly connected to several violent crimes in the states of Katsina, Zamfara, Niger, and Kwara have been apprehended by Force Intelligence Department agents.
The suspects were captured following a risky clandestine operation in Kwara State, according to a statement released yesterday by Force spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin.
The statement claimed that one of the suspects was Abubakar Usman, also referred to as Siddi, who was spotted brandishing weapons and big sums of cash in a viral video. Shehu Mohammadu, also known as Gide, was named as the second suspect.
According to Hundeyin, the suspects were found to have an AK-47 weapon with a magazine that contained 20 rounds of live ammo, a brand-new Honda Ace 125 motorcycle, and N500,000 in cash.
According to the statement, “preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are members of a notorious banditry and kidnapping gang terrorizing communities across Zamfara, Katsina, Niger, and Kwara States.”
According to additional research, the gang also provides criminal members with weapons and ammo.
In order to facilitate the arrest of further syndicate members and the seizure of more firearms, both suspects are currently working with detectives.
Additionally, the Nigeria Police Force remembers that one of the suspects, Abubakar Usman (also known as Siddi), was recently recognized as the person in a widely shared video showing off guns and substantial sums of cash on social media.
“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, reassures Nigerians of the Force’s unwavering commitment to dismantling criminal networks, combating banditry and kidnapping, and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, and commends the operatives involved for their professionalism and dedication.”
In order to support ongoing security activities, the Force spokesperson urged the public to submit timely and reliable information.
