A 29-year-old Nigerian lady was detained by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police in Bengaluru, India, for importing cocaine by hiding it inside bread loaves.
Olajide Esther Iyanuoluwa, the detained woman, was taken into custody on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, while on a private bus from Mumbai to Bengaluru.
She was found in possession of 121 grams of cocaine valued at Rs 65 lakh by the police.
To evade suspicion, Esther had deftly sliced open bread slices and concealed the cocaine inside.
According to a senior police officer, a special CCB team monitored her movements and stopped her when she arrived in the city from Mumbai based on reliable information.
Police discovered cocaine hidden in a bread loaf that was packed in her rucksack with other food items, purportedly to hide the drug while being transported.
According to police, the suspect supplied cocaine to clients in Bengaluru and was actively involved in drug trafficking.
She allegedly purchased the pills in Mumbai and used private buses to transfer them.
Senior police officers claim that Olajide bought cocaine from a male acquaintance in Mumbai and was told to deliver it to a fellow Nigerian in Bengaluru.
“She was instructed to transport the medicine personally and give it to another Nigerian who lived in Bengaluru. An investigating officer disclosed that this was done in order to reduce suspicion and prevent courier-based interception.
Police detained the drug’s intended receiver during a follow-up operation near Varthur based on her statement.
The potential Nigerian buyer was deported shortly after his detention, according to officials.
The senior officer stated, “This case demonstrates how traffickers are always coming up with new ways, using food and everyday household items as cover.”
A case has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
To track her network and find further connections in the drug supply chain, more research is being done.
The accused had entered New Delhi on a student visa, according to the Times of India.
She did not enroll in any educational institution, according to the investigation. Rather, she moved around Mumbai and its suburbs a lot.
Culled by Ghatkopar (Gala Nagar), India.
