Bayelsa State governor Douye Diri ordered an autopsy to ascertain the reason of Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo’s death.
Sunday Vanguard says that the governor gave the order yesterday while receiving former President Goodluck Jonathan at Government House, Yenagoa.
Ewhrudjakpo fainted in his office on Thursday and was brought to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Yenagoa, where he died.
Diri blasted “a lot of nonsense going on on social media” over the deputy governor’s death, warning against politicizing it.
Make an appeal. People politicized his death. Death is not the enemy in Ijaw land. Please do not politicize our beloved deputy governor’s death. Those who love him should show it now, the governor added.
“I ordered an autopsy to determine his death. Social media is full of garbage.
“If anyone is eulogizing him, please stop and mourn him because the state is mourning. This is why we have designated three working days of mourning and want everyone in the state to do what the previous president did today.
All of us will answer this summons one day, therefore let us love one another to death.”
Jonathan recognized the late Ewhrudjakpo as someone he would never forget, stating the deputy governor was engaged in his foundation.
“He was my foundation and I will never forget him. Ewhrudjakpo represented the governor in all our programs, Jonathan added, adding that he worked harder than as deputy governor.
