In Sheme village, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, a 30-year-old mother and her 10-month-old infant were killed and thrown into a well.
According to Vanguard, males who were fighting over the deceased’s parentage did the bad thing.
One of the suspects, Rabi’u, 35, has been caught by the police in Katsina. He is said to have admitted to the murder along with an accomplice who is still on the run.
DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Police Public Relations Officer, said this in a statement.
He added that the suspects tricked the mother and her infant into going to the outside of Sheme village, where they killed them, burned them, and threw them into a well.
The police said that their first investigation showed that the suspects were in a heated paternity argument with the victim, which may have contributed to the tragedy.
The announcement claimed, “The bodies of the victims have been found, and the suspect is now in custody.” “Efforts are still being made to catch the accomplice who is running away.”
CP Bello Shehu, the Commissioner of Police, called the death “barbaric and inhumane.”
He told the people living there that the command would make sure that justice is done and that the probe would leave no stone unturned.
The Command also asked people to come forward with any credible information that could help them catch the second suspect, promising that this information would be kept completely private.
The police claim that investigations are still going on.
