Wolfgang Porsche (82), chairman of the German luxury sports car maker Porsche, has wed his fourth wife, who is 20 years his junior.
On the 7th, a media spokeswoman for Porsche confirmed, according to dpa and other news agencies, that the chairman conducted a private wedding ceremony with Gabriela Zureiningen (62) in Salzburg, Austria.
The spokesman urged caution in additional questions, highlighting the need of respecting the newlyweds’ privacy.
Porsche, who initially wed in 1970, initiated divorce proceedings with his third spouse in 2023. Media reports said that “Porsche encountered challenges cohabitating with his wife following her dementia diagnosis and subsequent behavioral alterations.”
Porsche developed a stronger relationship with Zureiningen, whom he had known for over two decades, and allegedly began cohabiting with her in January of that year following a holiday in the Maldives.
Zureiningen, now Porsche’s fourth spouse, is a scion of the Thyssen lineage, historically noble and the progenitor of ThyssenKrupp, Germany’s preeminent steel enterprise. She wed Marquess Karl Emich Leiningen in 1991 and subsequently divorced in 1998. In that same year, she wed Aga Khan IV, the leader of the Ismaili spiritual community, however they divorced in 2014.
Wolfgang Porsche, the grandson of Porsche founder Ferdinand Porsche (1875–1951), has held the position of chairman of Porsche’s Supervisory Board since 2007. The Porsche family, in conjunction with the Piëch family—connected by marriage to Ferdinand—governs Volkswagen Group, Germany’s preeminent automobile manufacturer, via Porsche’s holding entity.
