In a fire in the Kofar Sauri village in the metropolitan area of Katsina State, a man, his wife, and three children died.
The Guardian said that most of the home objects were burned beyond recognition during the event that happened early this morning.
A local who didn’t want to be named stated the event happened soon after power was restored to the region.
He claimed that when the power came back on, there was an odd spike, and he thought that might have caused the fire.
He claimed that the local power company was known for only restoring power late at night and that the amount of power they occasionally give to the neighborhood is quite high voltage.
A different resident suggested that the harmattan wind, which had been getting stronger in the state over the past few days, might have caused the fire.
He stated that the state had seen a lot of fires in the past, and that many of them were thought to have been caused by the cold and windy weather.
But another person who lived in the area asked the right security services to look into what happened that led to the fire to rule out the potential of sabotage.
It was learned that the bodies of the dead people have been taken to the hospital and will be buried later today in accordance with Islamic customs.
At the time of this report, the police, federal, and state fire services had not given any more information about the event.
In other news, Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda saw two terrible car accidents on Sunday while driving back from the first part of his statewide tour in the Funtua Zone.
Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, said that the events happened soon after his boss had finished his business in the Matazu Local Government Area (LGA).
“The first crash happened in Matazu town, where the Governor’s convoy ran into a commercial Golf vehicle that was involved in a deadly accident,” Mohammed stated.
The car, which had a lot of people in it, was badly damaged. Sadly, four people died, while 10 others were hurt in different ways.
“Governor Radda told his convoy to stop right away and oversaw the victims’ evacuation himself. Medical teams that were part of the convoy helped out in an emergency as they waited for more responders to arrive.
Mohammed said that Radda spoke at the spot. The governor said, “No leader should drive past such a tragedy.” We paused because these people are our brothers and sisters. Their lives are important, and we need to act quickly and with compassion.
“This painful loss shows me how fragile life is.” My thoughts are with the relatives of the dead, and we will keep helping those who are hurt.
