Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun State, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the political party that propelled him to fame as a senator and then as governor.
A copy of the governor’s resignation letter, dated November 4, 2025, was attached to the announcement he made late yesterday on his official X handle.
In Ede North Local Government, Osun State, the letter was sent to Sagba Abogunde, the PDP Chairman of Ward 2.
Adeleke stated in his letter that he was leaving the PDP due to the current turmoil in the party’s national leadership.
“I am resigning my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect, due to the current crisis of the national leadership of the PDP,” he wrote.
He thanked the party for giving him the opportunity to serve, first as senator for Osun West (2017–2019) and then as governor of the state.
The chance to serve as senator and governor of Osun State under the Peoples Democratic Party was an honor, and Adeleke expressed his gratitude to the party for it.
The ward chairman was notified of the resignation on November 4th, according to the attached letter. After leaving the PDP, Adeleke did not reveal which political party he plans to join.
His exit from the PDP has changed the political tide in Osun and has left many wondering what he will do before the governorship elections in 2026.
