As part of attempts to improve cooperation in dealing with security problems in Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu has approved the formation of Nigeria’s delegation to the US-Nigeria Joint Working Group.
The Nigerian side of the joint working group will be led by Malam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser (NSA). He will be helped by a team of people from important security and policy organizations.
Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the presidential spokesperson, said this in a statement today in Abuja.
The development came after the NSA held high-level talks in Washington, D.C. not long ago.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Defense, Abubakar Badaru, and the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, are all on the team.
Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Bernard Doro, Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency Amb. Mohammed Mohammed, and Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun are also on the list.
The secretariat will be made up of Ms. Idayat Hassan from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and Mr. Paul Alabi from the Nigerian Embassy in the U.S.
Tinubu told the team to work closely with their American colleagues to make sure that all agreed-upon areas of cooperation go well.
