A Nairobi mother of one has recounted her poignant experience of love, betrayal, and disillusionment.
Emmy Magale was brought up in a family grounded on robust Christian principles, and her stringent parents did not permit romantic relationships.
Her existence centered on academia, domestic life, and religious observance, a pattern that persisted as she matured into an attractive and devout woman.
Following school, several friends urged her to relax and explore life outside of church. It was at that time when she encountered the progenitor of her offspring.
Magale recounted that she encountered her first love at a studio while aspiring to become a musician.
Subsequent events culminated in their romantic involvement, leading to cohabitation months later and the birth of a kid.
“Initially, we were well, until he began engaging in infidelity with a 19-year-old girl.” Despite numerous confrontations, he persisted in his deceit, claiming he would terminate the relationship with her, although he never followed through. Ultimately, I could no longer endure the treachery and departed with my child,” she stated.

Subsequent to the dissolution of her relationship, Magale relocated to her mother’s residence in Lucky Summer Estate, entrusted her child to her care, and cohabited with a friend who assisted her in reconstructing her life.
Ultimately, her singing career began to flourish, and with the assistance of another friend, she secured a residence.
Just as circumstances appeared to improve, fate presented her with another man, Dave (a pseudonym), who would subsequently betray her in an unimaginable manner.
“We encountered each other at the supermarket.” I went to get a kettle, and upon arriving at the counter, he was positioned in front of me. She recalled that he attempted to complete his transaction, but for some reason, his payment was unsuccessful.
In haste, Magale volunteered to settle his debt, thereafter assuring her that he would compensate her once the payment matter was rectified. They exchanged contact information, initiating the relationship.
Nonetheless, during their outings, Dave consistently devised justifications for Magale to cover the expenses or the cab fare. He consistently urged her to meet at her residence, never extending an invitation to his own.
I observed the warning signs but disregarded them. I covered all expenses, and when I pressed for his residence, he continuously evaded the issue. Ultimately, I discovered that he was residing with a friend. Notwithstanding all of this, I remained in the relationship,” she elucidated.
She observed that Dave was unemployed, asserting that he was on leave. Subsequently, it was revealed that he had been terminated due to wrongdoing.

Upon her arrival to the village residence, she encountered a palpable tension in the environment. Dave’s mother swiftly escorted her to the shopping area and requested that she remain in a separate room.
“She exited the room to summon her son.” Subsequently, his new spouse approached me and disclosed that she had a child with Dave and that he was on the verge of marrying her. I was devastated, as he was scheduled to visit my family in a few months. The woman’s family was already in the main residence, and they intended to utilize my groceries to create meals for her family,” she elucidated.
At that point, Magale recognized that Dave had deceived his family regarding his employment, while she had been the one financing his excursions and endorsing his initiatives in the hamlet.
Furious and despondent, she gathered all her purchases, including the cow, and commenced her exit.

She instructed the driver of the pickup truck that had supplied the building materials to terminate the task and return the products to the store. She remembered the days preceding the incident when Dave solicited money from her, feigning an urgent commitment he needed to address.
“I was unaware that he was utilizing my funds to cover all his expenses; I had no inkling and never anticipated he would act in such a manner towards me,” she stated.
Magale traversed a considerable distance in tears, transporting the cow, till she arrived at Luanda Market.
Dave exhibited no remorse. He became irate when I departed with the groceries, construction materials, and the cow. He insisted that I return the cow, which I had sold, and then grew aggressive. Individuals in the market were compelled to intervene for my rescue,” she stated.
