Chelsea and England forward Cole Palmer will be absent for two Premier League matches and the Champions League encounter against Barcelona next week due to a fractured toe, as stated by coach Enzo Maresca today.
Maresca stated that 23-year-old Palmer, who had recently resumed training following a two-month absence due to a groin injury, sustained the injury at home.
He reportedly stubbed his toe on a door during the night, according to AFP.
Palmer will be unavailable for today’s play against Burnley, the home fixture against Barcelona on Tuesday, and next weekend’s Premier League encounter with leaders Arsenal.
Maresca stated, “He is likely unavailable for tomorrow, Barcelona, or Arsenal.”
“Regrettably, he sustained an injury at home by striking his toe; however, it is not significant — he will not return in the upcoming week.”
Palmer netted two goals during Chelsea’s victory against Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final in July and is anticipated to be a pivotal member of the England side for the World Cup next year.
