Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President of Nigeria, has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for not protecting the military and all Nigerians as the Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) said that the most recent killing “for me is clearly a failure of political leadership,” because the President seems more interested in destroying the opposition by any means necessary and forgetting his important job as Commander-in-Chief of our Armed Forces.
Atiku said this on his X account last night in response to the death of Nigerian Army Brigadier General Musa Uba at the hands of militants in Borno State.
The Frontier said that terrorists attacked General Uba and took him hostage before killing him, which was reported yesterday.
“I am very sad, shocked, and disturbed by the news that terrorists killed Brig. Gen. Musa Uba and that the military hierarchy has not been able to clearly explain how it happened or what went wrong, as initial official denials suggested this was not the case.”
Atiku added, “This is clearly a failure of political leadership for me because the President seems only interested in destroying the opposition by any means necessary and forgetting his important role as Commander-in-Chief of our Armed Forces.”
He went on to say, “The death of Gen. Musa and some of the troops he was leading is one death too many, and our dear country cannot afford a bold terrorist resurgence.”
“I urge all citizens and our military leaders to take heart, as even this season shall pass away.”
Atiku said directly to President Tinubu,
“To Mr. President: Your main job is to keep our people safe, and you need to do it or be honest enough to say you can’t do it and either beg for help or step down.
“If I were President, I would send the military to take over Borno State or any other state that is being attacked by bandits or armed groups until they are gone. We need to care enough about the men and women who risk their life for us.
Atiku sent his sympathies to the Nigerian Armed Forces, the family of the dead person, and all Nigerians. He ended by stating, “May this dark time pass over us as a nation sooner rather than later.” – AA.
