Arsenal’s 10-game winning streak ended when Brian Brobbey scored a last-minute goal to tie the game at 2-2 with Sunderland. Manchester United also saved a 2-2 tie with Tottenham yesterday.
According to AFP, Dan Ballard, a former Arsenal defender, scored a powerful goal in the 36th minute at the Stadium of Light to put Sunderland ahead.
That halted the Gunners’ streak of eight games in a row without giving up a goal in any competition.
In the 54th minute, Bukayo Saka tied the game with a calm finish. Then, in the 76th minute, Leandro Trossard scored from the outskirts of the Sunderland area to give Arsenal the lead.
Arsenal were just a few minutes away from their 11th straight win in all competitions, but Brobbey scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time to tie the game.
This was the first time they had lost in any tournament since a 1-1 draw with Manchester City in the top tier on September 21.
Arsenal is seven points ahead at the top as they try to win their first English crown since 2004.
However, if City beats champions Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium today, they would be only four points behind Arsenal.
If Liverpool beats City, they will be only five points behind Arsenal.
The Gunners have come in second in the Premier League for the last three years and haven’t won a trophy since the 2020 FA Cup.
Bryan Mbeumo gave United the lead in the 32nd minute at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where home fans were getting more and more upset.
After being booed off at halftime, Tottenham came back and seemed to have won the game in a spectacular way when Mathys Tel scored in the 84th minute and Richarlison deflected Wilson Odobert’s shot in the 91st minute.
But Matthijs de Ligt, a defender for United, scored a header in the 96th minute to make it five games without a loss for his team.
Tottenham’s inability to keep the lead was another blow to their terrible record in home league games in 2025. This season, they have only won one out of six top-flight games in north London.
The managers were both unhappy with the result. United manager Ruben Amorim commented, “We have a lot of work to do as a team because today was our day to win.” We can win this game if we are a little more bold.
Thomas Frank, the manager of Tottenham, said, “There were a lot of things we could have done better.” The last goal is all about how urgent it is. Maybe you shouldn’t give the cross away and play better defense.
Seventh-placed United have lost to Tottenham eight times, including a 1-0 loss in the Europa League final in May.
West Ham and Everton both won.
West Ham’s chances of staying in the Premier League improved after a 3-2 win over Burnley, who are also having a hard time.
In the 35th minute, Burnley took the lead when Lesley Ugochukwu’s cross found Zian Flemming, who headed it in from close range.
Callum Wilson equalized for West Ham in the 44th minute with a predatory finish from the rebound after Crysencio Summerville’s attempt was saved.
Tomas Soucek scored for West Ham in the 77th minute. The Czech midfielder bundled in from close range after Burnley goalie Martin Dubravka deflected Lucas Paqueta’s cross into his path.
When Dubravka mishandled the ball toward Kyle Walker-Peters in the 87th minute, the defender’s perfect finish made the outcome clear.
Burnley didn’t feel much better after Josh Cullen’s goal in stoppage time.
Third from the bottom With their second win in a row, West Ham tied Burnley for points, who are in fourth place from the bottom.
Everton won 2-0 over Fulham at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, ending a three-game winless streak.
Idrissa Gueye scored to give David Moyes’ team the lead when James Tarkowski’s header hit the bar in the first half stoppage time.
Michael Keane, an Everton defender, scored the game-winning goal in the 81st minute by heading in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s corner.
The penultimate game on Saturday’s schedule is Chelsea vs. Wolves.
