Air Peace, Nigeria’s flag carrier, has begun direct flights from Abuja to London Heathrow, according to Mr. Ross Baker, chief customer officer of Heathrow Airport in the UK. This move is a reflection of the growing collaboration between the two countries.
Heathrow is one of the busiest and most competitive international airports in the world, and Baker characterized the airline’s entrance into the airport as historic.
Baker was reportedly addressed during the opening ceremony of the carrier at Terminal 3 of Heathrow Airport by Mr. Efe Osifo-Whiskey, who is the spokesperson for Air Peace.
It is my pleasure to welcome you all here today at Heathrow for an incredibly momentous occasion — one that has been planned for years —” he declared. Air Peace’s direct service between London Heathrow and Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, has launched, and with it comes more than simply a new route; it heralds a brighter, more interconnected future for our two countries.
“Abuja is a vibrant and important destination,” he said in the statement, praising Air Peace for their strategic vision, perseverance, and dedication to quality. We are overjoyed that this additional route will further strengthen the connection between the United Kingdom and Abuja, which already carries about 140,000 people annually.
In a statement, Baker highlighted the joint commitment between Heathrow and Air Peace to improve global connectivity, increase passenger choice, and develop socio-economic linkages between Nigeria and the UK.
Symbolizing a new era for indigenous airlines on the global stage, his statements highlight the increasing acceptance of Air Peace as a representation of Nigeria’s resiliency, ambition, and national pride. Air Peace’s new Abuja-London Heathrow service is just one more way the company is linking people, cultures, and economies throughout the world.
