The Indian police have broken up a big drug ring that three Nigerian women are said to have run. They found a lot of illegal narcotics, like cocaine, in their hands in Delhi, India.
The Times of India said yesterday that the women, who were only named Precious, Gift, and Joy, were arrested near Bakhtawar Chowk.
This happened after the arrest of an Indian citizen named Adarsh Sahu, who was involved in the illegal trade.
According to the newspaper, “Four people, including three Nigerian women, were arrested for allegedly running a drug supply network in Delhi’s Khanpur area, and police seized a large amount of MDMA and cocaine from their possession.”
Police say that the three people who were caught near Bakhtawar Chowk were from Nigeria and were named Precious, Gift, and Joy.
The news site says that the arrest happened after police were told that Adarsh Sahu, an Indian citizen who lives in the Badaun area of Uttar Pradesh, was selling drugs.
The story went on to say, “Sahu, who lives in the Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh, was caught with 26 grams of MDMA near Green Health Pharmacy in Sector 39 on Saturday after an investigation.”
The news agency further reported that authorities said Sahu’s arrest led to the discovery of an international drug supply system run by Nigerian women.
“We had precise information from an informant that Adarsh Sahu was distributing drugs in the area of Jharsa. We took action and arrested him after this. An officer who was looking into the case claimed, “We found MDMA in a commercial quantity in his possession.”
However, upon questioning, Sahu reportedly admitted that he got the pills from two Nigerian ladies named Precious and Gift who lived in Delhi. The police, acting on the tip-off, put up another team that detained the three women and found 39 grams of MDMA.
The authorities got a tip about a rented apartment in Khanpur Extension, Delhi, where another Nigerian named Joy was found when they questioned the suspects more.
The police raided the place and found 22 grams of white MDMA, 3 grams of brown MDMA, and 9 grams of cocaine, as well as an electronic weighing scale, packing supplies, and cell phones.
But the police are holding the suspects in jail so they can question them more and find more participants of the international drug network.
There was a story earlier that Thai police arrested a Nigerian guy for drug trafficking after raiding a nightclub in Bangkok.
This most recent arrest adds to the growing worry that immigrants, especially Nigerians, are part of a narcotics network that spans Asia.
