At the age of fourteen, Mrs. Taylor dropped out of school to work with equipment, then made soap. She went on to run a bakery and multiple cafes.
She met her late husband Ray at a social event hosted by the Electric Light Company when she was 19 years old.
They had a wonderful life together, doing things like traveling, dancing, and going to the theatre as a couple. They had three children, Pat, John, and Jean.
There was a time when Mrs. Taylor would perform the fox trot and rapid step. I’ve never slowed down in my pursuit of happiness.
Mrs. Taylor has a passion for exercise and fitness even after Ray’s untimely death in 1981 at the age of 61.
Daisy Taylor claims she “never imagined” she would live this long after being born in 1919 in Leytonstone, East London. She has 25 great-grandchildren.

Stretching and “having fun” are the two things she says every day have contributed to her incredible survival rate.
Care UK’s Manor Lodge in Chelmsford, Essex, is where Mrs. Taylor now resides; she stretches first thing in the morning, attends yoga and dancing classes once a week, and left her house in Stratford, east London, in April 2022.
She finds that the standing half-moon stance provides her with the most benefit since it allows her to stretch.
The practice of yoga has helped her cognitive abilities, and she even jokes that she has grown “brainier” with age.
Since she dislikes “sitting in the chair too long” and finds that moving about helps her to “see so many nice things,” Mrs. Taylor, who is 105 years old, is adamant about continuing to do so.
The key, she continued, is to “have fun” as soon as you get out of bed each morning.
I find joy in interacting with others, appreciating the simple things in life, and maintaining a busy schedule. I perform my workouts first thing in the morning and I really appreciate yoga as a kind of fitness.
Although I currently mostly do yoga in my chair, I used to perform it on the floor or carpet.

In April 2022, Mrs. Taylor relocated to Manor Lodge in Chelmsford, Essex, which is managed by Care UK. She is a regular at the yoga and dancing courses, and she also does morning stretches.
“If someone were to watch me while I did it on the floor, I could get up if I needed to,” she said.
Standing half-moon, in which one stands tall with one or both arms over one’s head and sways them gently side to side, is Mrs. Taylor’s favorite yoga pose.
A yoga practitioner, she jokes, “I think I’m getting brainier” since the practice helps her maintain mental acuity. “I also do crafts and painting.”
As a result of Mrs. Taylor’s enthusiasm for physical activity, she has begun to push her family to do the same.
She explained, with a laugh, that she was trying to get her loved ones to exercise, but they just won’t listen.
“Stand up straight and roll your shoulders around,” is what I’d advise. To begin with, though, ease up.
“I just can’t stand being seated for lengthy periods of time,” she continued. A little bit of fresh air is nice for me. My life is great right now, so I make sure to enjoy it.
‘I enjoy being alive because I get to witness so many wonderful things, and I adore people.’
One of Mrs. Taylor’s favorite yoga positions is standing half-moon, in which she raises her arms over her head and slowly swings them from side to side.
Her birthday was celebrated in November by the staff at her care facility, who baked a special cake especially for the occasion.
Mrs. Taylor ‘absolutely never’ envisaged reaching this milestone age, even if she comes from a long line of tall people.
Along with her 103-year-old sister, who also resides in the nursing home, her five other siblings all reached the ripe old age of ninety.
At least in theory, it’s a positive thing, as Mrs. Taylor clarified. I tell myself, “It’s another day, and get going,” every time I open my eyes in the morning.
That honor presently goes to Ethel May Caterham, who turned 115 in August, thus Mrs. Taylor isn’t the oldest woman in Britain.
After Maria Branyas Morera of Spain passed away at the age of 117, making Mrs. Caterham the fourth oldest person in the world and the oldest person in Europe.
She has lived through two world wars, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the first landings on the moon, the collapse of the Berlin Wall, six monarchs of the United Kingdom, and will have survived COVID-19 in 2020.
Mrs. Caterham’s secret to living a long life? “Never arguing with anyone,” she stated. “Listen, I do what pleases me!”
