Former President Bola Tinubu’s minister of science, technology, innovation, and innovation, Uche Nnaji, has stepped down from his position.
This was confirmed in a statement made today by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga.
His alleged credentials from the University of Nigeria Nsukka in Enugu State and his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate were the subject of dispute leading up to his resignation.
The citadel of learning was reportedly unable to verify that Nnaji completed his academic sojourn in 1975, despite his claims to have graduated.
A two-year investigation by PREMIUM TIMES uncovered allegations that Nnaji falsified his credentials when he was confirmed as a minister by President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian Senate.
Nnaji has been the subject of accusations of certificate fraud ever since President Tinubu included him in the initial group of 28 ministry nominations from 25 states sent to the Senate in July 2023.
Many people believe that Nnaji did not finish his bachelor’s degree and that the NYSC certificate he gave to President Tinubu, the SGF, the SSS, and the Senate were forgeries. He also gave them to the offices of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
The online publication asserted that Simon Ortuanya, the Vice Chancellor of UNN, had said that Nnaji was admitted to the school in 1981 but never graduated since he did not finish his studies.
On top of that, the platform mentioned that officials from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) verified that Nnaji’s national service certificate was unusual and couldn’t be verified.
