I just learnt that a young lady allegedly doused her husband of FIVE months with kerosene and he died.
This happened sometime in September, after a heated domestic arguement. The husband is said to be a young commissioned officer and medical doctor named Lieutenant Samson Haruna, serving at the Wellington Bassey Barracks, Ibagwa, in Abak LGA Akwa Ibom.
My goodness!!! If this isbteue, what kind of demonic anger would make a woman do that…no matter the situation? There is no justification whatsoever. She is in custody.
It is alleged that roughly 1 in 7 men experience physical violence from an intimate partner over their lifetime. Some lead to fatality, sone cause severe depression that they may not recover from.
Men often stay quiet about abuse due to societal stigma and harmful gender norms that equate masculinity with strength and stoicism, creating a fear of being perceived as weak or unmanly. They also fear disbelief and ridicule from others, and struggle with internalized shame, which can lead them to minimize or deny their experiences.
Men – a word of advice, be careful who you choose to be your life partner because some women have unresolved issues that can lead to fatality as above. This advice is given to women as well. But I am addressing this to men specifically.
There are red flags you can’t ignore. Marriage doesnt solve inherent dysfunctionality. It’s either you go for counselling and therapy before saying ‘I do’ to try and sort things out or you take a walk.
Also if you have made the mistake, your life is more important…. alone you came into this world and alone you will go…. you met her at a point in your life’s journey…that has bus stops….get off at the nearest bus stop so you are alive to continue your pilgrim’s journey.
Parents let your boy child know that ‘being a man’ doesnt just focus on not being physically or abusive to a woman but it is also not accepting to be bullied or abused by any woman.
This is so so sad. Families put into mourning due to unbridled anger.
We wait to hear the full story……………………………………………………to be continued.
