Kemi Badenoch, the head of the UK Conservative Party, has announced what she calls “the toughest reforms Britain has ever seen” in immigration policy. She has revealed a new border strategy that aims to imprison and deport 150,000 illegal migrants every year.
Badenoch stated in a video message on her X account today that the Radical Borders Plan would create a new Removals Force, based on the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, to change how the UK enforces its borders.
She wrote, “My message is clear: if you’re here illegally, you will be detained and deported.”
Badenoch, who has made a name for herself as a hardliner on immigration, has criticized both the Conservative and Labour governments for how they dealt with the migratory crisis.
She said that Labour was in charge of record numbers of unlawful crossings and was wasting taxpayers’ money on asylum housing.
“Today, I’m starting our Radical Borders Plan. It’s the toughest changes to Britain’s border laws and operations that have ever been made.
“Governments that have come and gone have failed on immigration. The Labour Party said they would break up the gangs.
“Instead, they let in more than 50,000 illegal immigrants, set a record for small boat crossings, housed 32,000 people in asylum hotels, and wasted billions of dollars.”
“It’s just weakness.” “Badenoch said that Britain needs a serious, believable plan and the strength to carry it out.”
It was said that the proposed proposal would stop asylum claims from people who entered the country illegally, get rid of the Human Rights Act, and take the UK out of the European Convention on Human Rights.
Badenoch declared that all illegal immigrants will be sent back home within a week. He also said that there would be no legal hurdles to mass deportations and that countries who don’t send their residents back home would face visa sanctions.
She also said that the new enforcement agency would “shut down the asylum hotel racket,” save taxpayers billions, and bring back people’s faith at Britain’s borders.
“The Conservatives are the only party with a real, workable plan to make the borders stronger.
Badenoch ended by saying, “You will be deported if you come here illegally.”
In an interview with Laura Kuenssberg on the BBC today, Badenoch got a lot of flak for not answering questions on where deported migrants will go.
“I’m sick of all these pointless inquiries about where they should go.
“They should go back to where they belong or to another country, but they shouldn’t be here,” she remarked.
When asked again, she said, “They will go back to where they came from.”
Sky News says that the new Removals Force will take the place of the current Home Office Immigration Enforcement branch. It will have broad powers, such as being able to employ face recognition technology without warning to find and remove unauthorized immigrants.
If Badenoch’s plan is adopted, it would be one of the most significant changes to UK immigration policy in decades. This would make the political fight over border control and human rights protections much more heated.
