Trump is drawn to the offer because it is so unusual and because he expects it to be full of pomp and circumstance. The President of the United States has spoken highly of the King’s late mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
He has also talked about how much his mother, who was born in Scotland, loved the queen and the monarchy. British officials suggest that Trump will go to the Queen’s grave on his own.
Trump said as he departed the White House on Tuesday that King Charles will host him in Windsor this time, instead of Buckingham Palace, where he stayed during his last state visit.
“I don’t want to say one is better than the other, but they say Windsor Castle is the best,” Trump added. He called King Charles “an elegant gentleman” and said, “he represents the country so well.”
But the visit is getting a lot of criticism in the UK, even if it is supposed to be a mix of 21st-century diplomacy and royal grandeur.
Protesters are against Trump’s visit.
On Tuesday, protestors gathered for a demonstration before Trump’s visit in Windsor. Four individuals were arrested when images of the US president and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein were projected onto Windsor Castle.
Before the visit, protesters stated they would protest against what they called “our government’s choice to honor a man who is violating human rights in the US and around the world.”
Even though Mr. Trump won’t be going to Parliament because the House of Commons will be on break for a party conference on Wednesday, protesters from the Stop Trump Coalition will gather in Portland Place in the center of London before walking to Parliament Square.
Trump will be kept away from a planned large protest against his visit since he will be in Windsor and Chequers, which are both far from London.

Ukraine and Gaza are on the list.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who has already shown he can charm Trump, talked about the US president’s choice of decorations for the Oval Office and the decision to put up a bust of Winston Churchill on his trip to Washington in February.
Starmer went to Trump’s golf clubs and praised them during Trump’s private vacation to Scotland in July.
During their meeting on Thursday, both leaders are likely to sign nuclear energy deals, work together more on defense technology, and look for ways to strengthen links between the US and its financial centers.
But the leaders of the West have important and urgent foreign policy challenges to deal with when it comes to Ukraine and the war in Gaza. It is still unclear how they will be able to work together.
President Trump of the United States will meet with King Charles III and Prime Minister Starmer on a state visit.
Trump and Starmer spoke about the “desperate situation” in Gaza and how to resolve the war in Ukraine.
Starmer has tried to use his power to keep the US on Ukraine’s side, but it hasn’t worked very well. Trump has said he is angry with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but he has not followed through on threats to put further penalties on Russia for not taking part in peace talks.
Last week, European NATO partners publicly denounced Russia’s drone invasion of Poland, a NATO member, and offered to send more troops and planes to the bloc’s eastern frontier. But Trump downplayed the event, saying it “could have been a mistake.”
Starmer also disagrees with Trump with the war in Gaza and has declared that the UK will officially recognize a Palestinian state at the UN later this month. This is very different from US policy on Israel.
