Detectives excavated the bones of 65-year-old Ngui Ngunza after his son, Musee Ngui, led them to a small grave in their homestead, two years after his murder.
For years, Musee had convinced relatives that his father had traveled, leaving the family in disarray, until his recent arrest in Machakos revealed the reality.
The shocking statement came during questioning over separate charges that Musee had violated and pregnant his two daughters.
The finding has shaken communities and family, finally answering long-held doubts as police seek to prosecute Musee with murder and sexual assault.
Kitui – Police have found a horrifying case when a man confessed to killing his father in Mwingi West over two years ago.
When did the Kitui man’s father disappear?
According to the authorities, Musee admitted to killing his father in 2023 before concealing the crime by telling relatives that the elderly man had left.
The answer, combined with Musee’s subsequent disappearance, left the family in uncertainty and sorrow for two years as they attempted to locate their kin.
Family members claimed the incident has left them both relieved and shaken, wondering what prompted his actions.
“This is my brother’s home; he vanished in 2023 and we were told he had traveled. We don’t know what motivated the son to murder his father at the moment,” said Francis Mbunza, the deceased’s relative.
The breakthrough occurred when Musee was apprehended two weeks ago in Matuu, Machakos county, where he was hiding.
According to police, he fled after being suspected of defiling and impregnating his two children.
During interrogation about the new claims, he reportedly admitted to killing his father.
Homicide detectives escorted Musee back to Kitui, where he pointed out the burial place behind the homestead.
Officers then sealed off the area before digging up the remains under strict supervision, while residents gathered in quiet and watched in shock.
“It is shocking, and it has shaken the entire village,” said a neighbour, who watched as cops sealed off the scene.
Relatives of the late Ngunza stated that the discovery put an end to years of unresolved questions.
“We kept asking queries but never received replies. “Now we know the truth, no matter how painful it is,” stated one family member.
Police said the bones will be forensically examined before being handed over to the family for burial.
Officers are also pursuing charges against Musee, who is still in detention and is expected to face murder charges in connection with his father’s death, as well as charges for allegedly sexually assaulting his daughters.
