Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate for president in 2023, has stopped doing public events to take care of his health.
Obi said this on his verified X account yesterday.
The ex-governor of Anambra State said in a post called “Supporting Healthcare, Building Hope” that he was canceling all of his public events for the weekend because his doctor told him to.
Obi said, “Yesterday, after speaking at a tourism event in Enugu, I went to Good Hope Specialist Hospital in Isulo, Orumba South LGA of Anambra State. The Aguata Diocese of the Church of Nigeria is buying the hospital and fixing it up, and I made my first small donation of ₦10 million to help them do that.”
“Ven. Dr. Kamtochukwu Obi, who is in charge of the Aguata Diocesan Hospital Board, kindly showed me around the huge building and told me about the Diocese’s big intentions to change it.
“Healthcare is still one of the best things we can spend money on.” Faith-based groups have proved time and time again that they can do great work with the correct help.
“I praise the Diocese’s plan to develop the hospital into a full health complex with a School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Technology. This will make sure that future generations can get good treatment and training. We can make Nigeria healthier if we work together.
I left Isulo and went to Owerri to accept an invitation from Barrister Nnaemeka Maduagwu to a dinner in honor of his former boss, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, who used to be the governor of Kaduna State.
“I wasn’t feeling well earlier in Enugu.” I went to the hospital, where the doctor gave me some medicine and told me to rest for a day or two.
I won’t be able to meet all of my booked plans this weekend, both in the nation and outside of it, because the doctor told me not to.
“I am very sorry for any trouble this may cause and ask for your understanding.”
