The presidents of Angola, Malta, and France said goodbye to President John Dramani Mahama at the Presidency in Accra yesterday.
The Presidency announced in a statement that the three envoys who have finished their service tour in Ghana are Mr. João Domingos Baptista Quiosa from Angola, Mr. Jean Claude Galea Mallia from Malta, and Mr. Jules Armand Aniambossou from France.
Mr. João Domingos Baptista Quiosa, the outgoing Ambassador to Angola, worked in Ghana for four years.
He talked about how the two countries had been friends since 1959, when Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the president at the time, helped Angola’s fight for independence through the Liberation movement network. He also thanked Ghana for helping Angola, which was now growing a lot of cocoa and had a lot of students studying in Ghana.
President Mahama asked Ghana and Angola to work together more and share their expertise for their own good, especially in the oil and gas industry and renewable energy.
Mr. Jean Claude Galea Mallia, the outgoing Ambassador to Malta, has been living in Ghana for more than seven years.
He promised that Malta would be interested in starting enterprises in Ghana to boost trade.
President Mahama indicated that Ghana was making changes to become a business center for the subregion and that it was committed to using the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTA) as the location of its headquarters.
