The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) say that California’s sewage now has “high” levels of the coronavirus.
The virus is spreading more and more across the state, from Los Angeles County to the Bay Area to the area around Sacramento.
“California is going through a summer COVID wave,” said Dr. Aimee Sisson, the health officer for Yolo County, which lies west of the state capital.
During the week that concluded on August 23, 12.07 percent of COVID tests throughout the state came back positive. This is higher than the 6.03 percent rate for the week that ended on July 26.
Sisson added that everyone in West Sacramento who is 2 years old or older should “wear a mask when they are around other people in public places indoors.”
She stated, “Wearing a high-quality mask that fits well, like a N95, KN95, or KF94, still gives you a lot of protection.”
