Three adult men whose names have not yet been released have been found dead in their residence on Olateju Street in the Lekki Phase One region of Lagos State.
The PUNCH said that the event took place on Sunday morning and that the victims lived together in a makeshift chamber.
People said that the dead were casual workers who made their living by doing odd jobs and doing errands in the neighborhood.
A tenant who only gave his name as Alfred and asked not to be named since he wasn’t allowed to talk to the media said that the victims were asleep when the attackers broke into their room.
He said that the attackers pulled them out of the room and killed them with machetes.
He claimed, “The boys lived in a temporary structure that had been built on the property of a building on the street.” We knew they were workers who also did errands for other people. But on Sunday morning, a coworker who also lived nearby raised the alarm about an attack on the youngsters.
“When people got there quickly, they found the three of them laying in a pool of blood with machete cuts all over their bodies. We were told that the attackers pulled them out of the room before killing them.
A member of the Lekki Estate Residents Association, who did not want to be named, stated that the event caused a lot of fear in the region.
He added that there had never been an event like that on the street before and that the police were called to the area right after.
“We are now more careful about the safety of the area around here. He went on to say, “Security measures are also being stepped up as I speak to you.”
At the time of writing, the reason for the murder was still unknown.
However, other people in the neighborhood said that it might have something to do with cult fights or a disagreement involving the dead person.
We couldn’t get in touch with CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, to confirm since he didn’t answer his phone.
As of the time this article was written, he had not yet responded to a text message.
Earlier in August, it was stated that a skit maker named Austin was found dead in the Lakowe town of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of the state. He had machete cuts on his body.
Some people who thought they were cult members broke into the location early in the morning looking for the dead person.
When they found his flat, they allegedly pulled him out of his room and killed him right there.
