On Monday, September 1, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama will launch a high-level Conference of Heads of Mission and an Orientation Program for new Envoys. The conference will last until Friday, September 5.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is putting on the conference, which is called “Harnessing the Dividends of Diplomacy for Ghana’s Reset Agenda.”
The Ministry said in a press statement that this important event is part of efforts to give Ghana’s diplomats the skills, information, and strategic advice they need to move the country’s foreign policy goals forward.
It also noted that this is a big step toward making Ghana’s diplomatic missions work better with the government’s larger goals for development and working with other countries.
The Ministry says that President Mahama would not only open the conference, but he will also introduce Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Heads of Mission. This will create a results-based framework to make Ghana’s diplomatic efforts overseas more effective.
During the five-day program, participants will learn about the country’s top priorities, meet with experts from top institutions, and look into strategic alliances that can help Ghana reach its development goals by bringing in more investment, trade, and international support.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has once again said that it wants to make Ghana’s diplomatic corps stronger in order to protect the country’s interests and improve global diplomacy.
The Herald Ghana was the first to report that President Mahama would unveil KPIs at a summit for envoys and heads of missions tomorrow.
