Police in Edo State have detained a 19-year-old native doctor, Timothy Dauda, following the fatal shooting of his client, Alex Ezekiel, during an “anti-bullet” charm trial.

The incident occurred on August 20 in Onumu Community, near Igara, in Akoko Edo Local Government Area, reports Nigerian Tribune.

According to SP Moses Yamu, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, the suspect was apprehended by operatives from Igarra Divisional Police Station.

Dauda, who allegedly claimed to specialise in preparing charms that protect against gunshots and machete cuts, was reportedly testing the efficacy of a charm he had prepared for Ezekiel when the tragedy occurred.

A source revealed that Dauda attempted to test the charm by shooting Ezekiel, which resulted in fatal injuries.

The victim was rushed to a hospital in Igarra, where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.

SP Yamu confirmed that Dauda is currently in police custody and will face prosecution once the investigation is complete.
