Governor Obaseki has done some exceptional projects in Edo state
We at TNT newsonline have been getting so much negative narrative about the Edo state Government and we have decided to share with the world some projects we have witnessed in the state. Starting from today for posterity, please visit the state and ask for the projects we shall be covering and confirm. We take you to Ologbo community where the Green hills Ethanol plant is established.
Edo State is the only State in Nigeria with 2 Ethanol plants within 3 years. We visited Green Hills Ethanol plant in Ologbo community of Ikpoba Okha LGA.
The 55,000 litres of Ethanol daily Production is in 100% operation capacity needing 17 trucks of cassava daily.
Cassava Farmers across Edo State are the new sets of millionaires in town. They are receiving enormous technical support from these investment, they are now able to increase their cassava yield because they are getting regular supply of improved seedlings that have increased their yield and productivity by over 100%.
Green Hills is also providing Cassava species(a bit different from the regular cassava we consume) very high in starch for Farmers to cultivate specifically for Ethanol production and they have become ready off takers as soon as harvesting is done. This benefits the farmer, increases availability of Garri to consumers and helps to provide ready feed for Ethanol production.
Good news is that there’s zero waste recorded in Ethanol production here, the water is recycled and re-used, the Co2 is harvested and sold to beverage companies, the cassava pellets are used as manure for cultivation.
Green Hills has an independent power production plant and generates its own electricity that will benefit the community aside the over 20km of road constructed by the firm in tax credit.
Nigeria consumes 400 million litres of Ethanol yearly and over half of that is imported. With these investments, Edo has now become one of the largest Ethanol producers in Nigeria helping to meet demand for drug production by pharmaceuticals and also meeting the need of the Beverage industry amongst other uses of Ethanol.
This is the beginning of our series on the government of Edo state projects. We are not sponsored by the government, we just see it as a civic responsibility to share and be your witness of how those Edo MOUs transform to be real projects.
