Wike Vows to Put an End to Open Grazing in Abuja

On Wednesday, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), expressed his disappointment over the existence of cattle roaming around Abuja. Wike reassured worried citizens that plans to stop cattle roaming the city centre are still in place.

In an Abuja meeting with Daniel Bertrand, the Belgian ambassador to Nigeria, Wike gave the assurance that relevant stakeholders were having discussions on the problem. He highlighted the administration’s ongoing efforts and underlined the need for a multifaceted strategy to address insecurity in the Federal Capital Territory.

Wike revealed that in an effort to increase city security, his administration was strengthening its partnership with private sector transport companies.

Concerned about cattle being on Abuja’s streets, Ambassador Bertrand praised the minister’s dedication to tackling the issue. Additionally, he expressed interest in facilitating investments from Belgium to support the development of the nation’s capital.
