Breaking: Police used tear gas on 16 lawmakers from the Plateau PDP.
The 16 PDP members of the Plateau State House of Assembly who were fired by the Court of Appeal were today subjected to tear gas by armed police officers.
When the incident occurred, the lawmakers and their supporters had just arrived at the Rayfield Old Government House in Jos in preparation for the start of plenary.
The Government House was overrun by police and other security personnel, who forbade the dismissed lawmakers from entering the House of Assembly’s chambers. However, the lawmakers had promised not to leave the building.
