Boko Haram attacks Chibok again , kills 2, loots foodstuffs
After a brutal onslaught by Boko Haram extremists that left two people dead and several more injured, Chibok town, in the Chibok Local Government Area in Borno State, is making headlines once more.
When the rebels raided the Government Girls Secondary School there in April 2014 and kidnapped nearly 300 kids, Chibok made headlines throughout the world for the first time, according to The PUNCH.
Locals claim that at around 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the militants launched a vicious attack on the village, firing uncontrollably and forcing the people into a panic.
Locals, Moses Adamu reported, fled in all directions into the nearby bushes while the rebels went on a shooting rampage, destroying houses and stealing food supplies.
Adamu stated that the majority of the fleeing residents passed the night in the bushes while some might have found refuge in neighbouring communities.
The Borno Police Command confirmed the attack, saying that it attracted a swift response from a joint team of the military, the police and the local vigilante.
“The attack was repelled by the joint effort of the military and the police,” the police spokesman, Nahum Kenneth, said.
