Death toll rises to 127 persons in Kaduna bombing:

As of yesterday evening, 127 people were been confirmed dead, according to survivors of the mistake bombing in Tudun Biri, Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

The survivors told The Nation that they had taken a headcount of the partygoers at the Maulud Nabbiy celebration the night of the drone assault, and that many more were still missing.

 

According to Idris Dahiru’s relatives, further casualties and remains were taken to the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital yesterday.

 

Someone was picked up in the forest this morning and taken to the hospital, according to Dahiru, who stated that 34 members of his family had died.

 

One person died this morning, and the number of injured has risen to 75. Transfers have been made to other hospitals to treat some of the wounded. Some have been transferred to the 44th Army Reference Hospital, a military facility in Nigeria’s One Division, while others remain at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital.

 

As of Wednesday, 120 individuals had been officially confirmed dead.

 

The search team uncovered 20 more dead by Tuesday, and six more bodies were buried by Wednesday, according to one of the local imams, Alh Ahmed Sanusi. On Monday, Sanusi said that 100 individuals had been buried.

 

Rumour has stated that one of the seriously wounded victims passed away at the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital.

 

“We are still traumatised. Some of us couldn’t eat since yesterday (Tuesday) because of the condition we are seeing our people in the hospital,” shared Idris Yalo, one of the survivors. This morning, a grave was prepared for the burial of one of the wounded victims.

 

The state government has our gratitude. Our people in the hospital were treated with kindness. They brought us mattresses and beds after we were sleeping on the floor.We were handed meals by the commissioner, who just departed. We are overjoyed.

 

We had 66 injured people in the hospital before, but that number has increased; seven more casualties were brought here yesterday. The seven individuals were transported to the medical centre of the Army 1 Division.

 

Numerous further casualties went unrecognised. Trees and rooftops in the area were scoured for human remains.

 

Protecting innocent civilians should be our military’s first concern, and if anything goes wrong, there will be prompt and proper repercussions.

 

In his statement, he emphasised the need of the proper authorities taking immediate and strong action to stop similar tragedies from happening again and to make sure that everyone gets what they deserve.
