Police arrest 2 for starving family member to death
After a relative died of malnutrition, two suspects—Hassan Ismaila and Mohammed Sani—were detained by the Nasarawa State Police Command.
According to The PUNCH, the command stated that the suspects bound Sani’s wrists and legs and confined him in a room for an extended length of time till his death, all because of his supposed involvement in witchcraft.
This was revealed yesterday at the command’s headquarters in Lafia by the state’s acting commissioner of police, Shettima Mohammed, who was parading 18 individuals apprehended for a variety of crimes throughout the state’s thirteen LGAs.
Based on solid evidence, one Mohammed Sani ‘M’ of Agyaragu Tofa was bound hand and leg, confined in a room, and left to starve to death. His family members buried him quickly after accusing him of witchcraft, Mohammed claimed on November 30, 2023, about 1930hrs.
Hassan Ismail and Mohammed Sani, two men from Agyaragu Tofa, were apprehended by police officers assigned to ‘A’ Division, Lafia.
“As of right now, we are working to apprehend everyone who was involved in the evil deed.”
Habu Yusuf was also paraded by the acting CP in connection with the alleged rape of a five-year-old girl in the state’s Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area.
According to him, the suspect was apprehended after the command’s officers exerted great effort. The suspect had a history of raping two other young females.
“Justina Samuel recently complained to the Nasarawa Eggon Division after discovering her five-year-old daughter was walking abnormally upon her return from the market,” he said.
Habu Yusuf, a 21-year-old resident of Egbukumu Area, Nasarawa Eggon, was identified as the perpetrator of the sexual assault she suffered when questioned about the incident. The suspect was pursued and apprehended as soon as the allegation was received.
Before his enemies caught up with him, Habu Yusuf had sexually abused two of his older brother’s children, who were eight and ten years old at the time. The inquiry is continuing and he has admitted to committing the crime.
