Oba of Benin suspends Duke, appoints elders in Edo village

The Enogie (Duke) of Uhogua village in Ovia Northeast Local Government Area of Edo state, Osagumwenro Eki Eresoyen, has been suspended by the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II.

The first-class monarch reportedly reviewed claims of misconduct and dereliction of responsibilities against Eresoyen, and today, Thursday, November 23, in a press statement by his top press secretary, Osaigbovo Iguobaro, the king passed a vote of no confidence in him, thrusting him away.

 

 

The esteemed traditional ruler thus appointed Omonuwa Moses, the second-oldest man in the village, as Ozukpogieva, with the help of other elders such as Festus Omorefe, the priest; Isaac Osayande, the third-oldest man; Samuel Imaruagheru, the fourth-oldest; and John Ohiegbomwan, the Okaighele of Uhogua, to administer the village in his stead until the appointment of Odionwere, the village head, in due course.
