In the Sapele neighbourhood of Delta State, a carpenter known only as Orunor is suspected of murdering his apprentice.

According to Sunday PUNCH’s sources, Onome, an apprentice at a workshop on the new Ogorode Road, was killed after his boss punished him for being late to work.

A local who requested anonymity stated that before Orunor began punching the youngster, he accused him of taking his ATM card.

“When the child returned home from work, he told his parents he hadn’t been feeling well and explained what had happened to him at his workplace.

“The parents of the apprentice resolved to take him to the hospital for a checkup but before this arrangement could be made, the apprentice Onome, died.

We haven’t seen Orunor since then, and the workshop has been locked up tight since the word spread.

Bright Edafe, the public relations officer for the state police, confirmed that a search was underway for the carpenter after being contacted by the media.

“The carpenter is at large and the police are working to apprehend him,” he said.
