On Saturday, October 28, former Super Eagles players and other Nigerian football celebrities will gather in Lagos to see Clement Temile launch his Football Foundation.

During an interview with Daily Trust, Temile discussed his plans for the Foundation and how he hopes to use it to give back to Nigeria through the National Institute of Sports (NIS) in Lagos.

Football made me who I am today, and I give all praise to God for the grace to serve my father land,” stated the former Bendel Insurance, NNPC Warri, BCC Lions, and Abiola Babes player. Now I want to give back to my country by helping to develop its future football stars by providing them with platforms on which to display their God-given abilities.

I’m equally thrilled that so many individuals are supporting our project and have vowed to be present at the Foundation’s unveiling at the Lagos National Stadium, which was chosen because of the positive associations it holds for the Super Eagles and Nigerian sports.

Temile has stated that the Foundation’s goals are to aid financially disadvantaged students, help rehabilitate injured or ill former players, provide financial assistance to the surviving spouses and children of deceased footballers, expose young players to international training, and teach them to become positive role models.

He went on to say that the Clement Temile Foundation would aid in teaching retired footballers and others about financial responsibility and the importance of giving back to those in need.

Meanwhile, the event’s organisers have said that former internationals such Tijani Babangida, the president of the Nigerian Players Union, Victor Ikpeba, Peter Rufai, Monday Eguavoen, Tajudeen Disu, Joshua Ekator, Wahidi Akanni, and Tajudeen Ajide will be in attendance.
