Shocking News: Doctor killed by gunmen with machete
Dr. Stephen Angbas, owner of the Lafia-Angbas Clinic in Nasarawa State, was recently murdered by unknown assailants.
According to THE PUNCH, the murder occurred late yesterday as Angbas rode his motorbike home from his farm in the Awe Local Government Area of the state.
Our correspondent was told by eyewitnesses that the suspects, who were riding motorcycles, attacked the doctor and the motorcyclist who was transporting the deceased doctor to the farm with machetes.
Sadly, Angbas was reportedly unable to survive his wounds, but the motorcyclist, later identified as Mikailu Dahiru, was rushed to a nearby hospital and is undergoing emergency treatment for his own serious injuries.
Audu Lawal, a council employee, has voiced his grave concern over the incident and said that the council chairman has already alerted security officials.
In the meantime, DSP Rahman Nansel, the state’s police spokesperson, has confirmed the report as well: “Today, on the 17th of October 2023, at approximately 4:00 pm, mobile police operatives received distressing information regarding a fatal assault along the Jangargari-Awe Road.”
Tragically, Mikailu Dahiru, a commercial motorbike rider who miraculously survived the attack, and Dr. Angbass Stephen, who suffered severe injuries but ultimately succumbed to them, were the victims.
CP Maiyaki Baba expresses his deepest condolences to the victim’s family and has launched a thorough investigation to find those responsible for this senseless act of violence.
To add to this, Nansel said, “The Commissioner encourages any member of the public with relevant information to come forward and assist in the swift apprehension of those responsible for this despicable act.”
