Senator Elisha Abbo claims his dismissal was the result of a power play, and he claims that four other senators have been marked for dismissal for failing to back Godswill Akpabio’s bid for the presidency of the Senate.

Channels TV reports that he made the remarks from his Abuja home yesterday, shortly after learning that the Court of Appeal had overturned his election to the Senate.

At the press conference, Adamawa North Senator and Representant Abbo named Orji Uzor Kalu as one of the five senators who would be removed from office for failing to back Akpabio.

I don’t have the luxury of being flippant or making wild assumptions at my level. I can’t even hazard a guess at this point. What I’m telling you is true,” he vowed.

Five of us were set to be removed, I was informed by a very high-ranking Nigerian citizen. If I were to leave, Orji Uzor Kalu would certainly follow. This is a proven fact.

He called the ruling that removed him from office a coup against democracy but urged his supporters to remain calm.

Therefore, the outcome is irrelevant. That’s not the case,” he clarified. One could say, “This is a coup against democracy.”

Despite the court declaring Amos Yohanna of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the winner of the February election, Senator Abbo insisted that he had actually prevailed.

He claims that he won by a margin of 11,000 votes over the PDP candidate.

The Akpabio camp has denied any involvement in his campaign finances.
