Authorities concerned about rising rates of same-sex sexual activity among youths
Nigerian law enforcement, especially the police, have publicly stated their intention to crack down on same-sex relationships between minors.
According to Saturday Independent, many Nigerians are concerned about the resurgence of same-sex activity among young people.
It’s becoming increasingly disturbing to see same-sex couples everywhere in the United States, but especially in the South.
Teenage girls and boys were reportedly involved in this wrongdoing.
Temitope Felicia Afikuyomi, for example, was allegedly apprehended at a friend’s birthday party in Lagos for engaging in a same-sex act with a coworker; Afikuyomi and her accomplice are still at large.
According to reports, Temitope Felicia Afikuyomi jumped bail after being arrested for the crime of homosexuality following an interrogation and confession at the police station.
According to the police, their attempts to re-arrest her have been fruitless as of the writing of this report.
Precious Erharuyi, who had been expelled from a University in 2012 for acts related to lesbianism, was in 2020 arrested at a rendezvous in Benin City by the Police along with other female accomplices for engaging in bisexuality, a situation not dissimilar to the one described above.
Chioma Joy Owie, another woman in Benin City, was arrested by the Police for having an intimate sexual encounter with another woman.
