EFCC Investigating former Governors, Ministers and others
Following petitions received by the commission, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday announced that some former governors, former ministers, and some ministry officials are being investigated, with further details to be released soon.
Mr. Dele Oyewale, the commission’s spokesman, told Vanguard that the EFCC has recovered N27 billion and $19 million across three separate cases it has investigated, indicating that the organisation is making progress in accordance with its mandate.
Oyewale stated, “Works of the Commission are proceeding in line with our mandate.
Several public servants, including former governors, ministers, and ministry officials, have been the subject of petitions. Those petitions are still being looked into, I can tell you that much.
The results of our inquiries and the specifics of their involvement will be made public shortly.
Also, some officials at the Federal Ministry of Power and Agricultural Procurement have been accused of massive fraud, and investigations into this matter are still ongoing.
Through various Bureau de Change operators, money earmarked for the Mambilla and Zungeru Power projects has been stolen. A number of recently acquired homes are being reimbursed at this time. The homes are located in the states of Abuja, Lagos, and Cross River.
“Similarly, the Commission has recovered N27, 184, 357, 524 and $19, 084, 419 across three separate cases, and we’re still recovering.”
We are increasing our efforts in prevention, risk assessment, and recovery.
