Allege Fraud case : Court issues production warrant against Naira Marley
Azeez Fashola, better known by his stage name Naira Marley, was served with a production warrant by the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, yesterday.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting Naira Marley on eleven counts that range from conspiracy to credit card fraud.
At yesterday’s resumed sitting, defence attorney Olalekan Ojo, SAN explained that his client had been detained by the police for questioning in connection with the murder of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad, and thus was unable to appear in court.
Therefore, Ojo requested a postponement of the trial.
Meanwhile, prosecution attorney Bilkisu Buhari requested a production warrant be issued against the defendant to ensure his appearance at the next court date.
Justice Nicholas Oweibo, presiding, granted the requests of the prosecution and issued a production warrant for the accused.
According to the EFCC’s X-account, the judge has postponed the trial until October 30, 2023.
