UNICAL sex scandal: DSS’s rationale for arresting Prof. Ndifon
The Independent Corrupt Practises and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) reportedly asked the Department of State Services (DSS) for help in apprehending former UNICAL Dean of the Faculty of Law Professor Cyril Ndifon in connection with the university’s sex scandal.
Directorate of Public Relations at the Department of Defence (DOD) issued the following statement to the media on Thursday, October 5, 2017.
He claimed that Ndifon’s refusal to honour the commission’s multiple invitations led to his arrest by commission operatives on October 4 in Calabar, Cross River State.
He explained that the agency had provided its backing because doing so was “in the spirit of interagency cooperation” and was in response to a request from the Commission. This is to guide public understanding of the latest developments on the matter.”
This response comes after news spread that Professor Ndifon had been kidnapped from his home in the Akpabuyo local government area of Cross River State by armed men.
