As the price of PMS for a litre rise to N650, the fuel line formed again.
As the price of petroleum motor spirits, commonly referred to as fuel, has increased to 650 naira per litre in Sokoto State, drivers there have voiced their displeasure.
According to the Nigerian Tribune, several motorists who spoke with a reporter urged the government to put the people’s needs first.
Our correspondent spoke with a car mechanic named Alhaji Afolabi Hassan, who called the sudden increase “barbaric and inhumane.”
“Imagine if all of a sudden gas stations stopped operating, and the ones that stayed open were selling gas for more than the 620 naira per litre that was mandated by the government.
The government’s inability to consider the general populace in its policymaking is frustrating and sad.
As one person put it, “Even at 620 naira per litre, it’s not easy for us; we are already paying a high price, and now they have increased it further without considering the side effects of their decision.”
Tricycle driver Iliya Haruna in the state has also spoken out against the fuel price hike, saying it has hurt their business.
Even at 620 naira per litre, our profits are insufficient to cover rent, food, and transportation.
It’s a shame that the majority of us will have to cease this work for financial reasons, he continued.
