Obaseki’s commitment to democracy stands in stark contrast to Shaibu’s desperation.
…as the Ondo Assembly initiates proceedings to impeach the deputy governor.
The Ondo State House of Assembly began the impeachment process against Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Wednesday evening. Aiyedatiwa ran the state for three months while the governor was out sick, and the news came as a surprise.
When the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, has turned into an aggressor in his desperate attempt to become the next Governor of Edo State at any cost, one might wonder what he has to be offended about by brandishing such a hammer.
When comparing Shaibu to the Ondo Deputy Governor, whose actions more clearly constitute an impeachable offence?
A deputy governor in Edo State who, with the help of the opposition party, plotted to overthrow and impeach the governor by installing a parallel speaker in the state assembly.
A deputy governor who, while his boss was in a meeting with state stakeholders, attempted to break into the governor’s home.
A governor’s deputy who took his boss to court to publicly shame him.
A deputy governor and his staff walked out on the governor, his principal, and other dignitaries at a state function, showing a complete lack of decorum and regard for their positions.
One of the governor’s deputies and his security detail tried to break into the governor’s private office while the governor was out of the building.
And in all these, no one in Edo is even thinking about impeaching Shaibu? Aren’t we the luckiest man alive?
Because Governor Obaseki upholds democracy and the rule of law, Shaibu is still free to cause trouble while walking around as Edo State’s deputy governor.
Hopefully, he won’t continue to test the governor’s patience by abusing his power.
Those the gods intend to destroy are first driven mad.
Shaibu has gone completely insane in his pursuit to become the next governor of Edo at any cost. He’s become dangerously desperate in his pursuit of a promotion, and he needs to be reined in before he does any more damage.
