Before FCT, Wike was a motor park tout, local Gov. Chairman, according to Obaseki.
Obaseki, a top official in the People’s Democratic Party, has accused Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike of working to undermine the PDP so that he can run for president in 2027.
Against the backdrop of a call by the FCT minister to suspend Atiku from the PDP, former Rivers State Governor Pedro Obaseki reportedly said as much yesterday, monday, in an interactive session with a handful of print journalists in Abuja. Obaseki was the Director of Planning and Strategy for the PDP 2023 Presidential Campaign Council.
It’s no secret that Wike’s ultimate goal is to become our country’s president, he said. To get there, he’ll get rid of anything, on purpose or not, that gets in his way. What we’re seeing is his attempt to undermine the People’s Democratic Party so that he can take power in 2027 by doing the same to the All Progressives Congress. But we’re not stupid, either.
It’s critical that we make Wike answer for his actions. There’s a cap on the man’s otherwise endless disorder. In his book “Things Fall Apart,” Chinua Achebe wisely advised his readers that those whose palm kernels had been cracked for them by kind spirits should remember to remain humble. The persistence of a disgrace to the people of the South South like Wike is regrettable.
In continuation of his speech, he asked, “Who is Wike? He doesn’t amount to anything at all. Former Port Harcourt car park attendant turned Local Government chairman. He rose to national prominence on the support of voters in Rivers State, but he ultimately betrayed them all. He “rose from the ranks, first as a motor park tout in a Port Harcourt parking lot, then as a local government chairman, then as minister of state, then as governor of Rivers State, and now as minister of the FCT.”
