Elections: INEC colluding with APC, security agents to rob PDP, Ayu alleges
The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Iyorchia Ayu, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of colluding with chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and security agencies to rob the main opposition party of victory at the just concluded state governorship and houses of assembly elections.
Addressing a press conference at national secretariat of the party in Abuja on Monday, he alleged that while the PDP recorded sweeping victories in most of the states, the announced results do not reflect the choice of the voters.
According to him, the results obtained directly from polling units by the party and independent observers confirmed the party’s sweeping victories in most of the states where the elections were held.
The party boss said: “Once more, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has failed the integrity test. Its officials have connived with chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and security agents to swindle the PDP out of its deserving electoral victories.
“Of particular note is the brazen fraud by the APC and INEC to alter the result of Adamawa State governorship election already won by the PDP candidate, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and give undeserving victory to the candidate of the APC.
“This is unacceptable. It is a rape of democracy, frustration of the popular will. We will not accept such a travesty of justice.
