Poll: Political cartels in Lagos are conspiring against me – Jandor

Dr. Olajide Adediran, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial candidate in Lagos, has exposed moves by cartels and godfathers in the PDP and the All Progressives Congress, APC, alleged to be working against his victory in the state’s governorship election on March 18.

Jandor, on the other hand, expressed confidence that he would win in the end, despite all odds, saying, “the battle is of God, not of Jandor or any godfather.”

In Ikeja, Lagos, the governorship publicly introduced his wife, Mariam Adediran, to the party faithful. This was in response to a viral video on social media of a lady claiming to be Jandor’s mistress and having been dumped by Jandor after a series of love escapades together.

Mrs. Adediran, who had arrived from the United States of America, appeared at a stakeholders meeting of Jandor’s campaign at about 5.50 p.m. at the Liberty House.

Addressing a crowd of mostly women leaders and PDP members from the state’s 20 LGAs in the late evening of Tuesday, he said he was aware of some PDP godfathers who had decided to ensure his defeat at the Saturday polls by endorsing and working for Labour Party candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour, as well as APC, presumably referring to PDP chieftain, Bode George, and President-elect, Bola Tinubu.

“We are all aware of the whirlwind in the polity as a result of the activities of some godfathers in the PDP and APC who are bent on subverting the wishes of the majority,” he says.

“For the last few weeks, the leaders have been beating the drums of war with provocative statements, harassment, and propaganda. But I’m confident that all of this will pass. God has revealed them as they beat war drums.

“Because I resisted the move by a godfather in PDP to pick Rhodes-Vivour as my deputy, they lured him (Rhodes Vivour) to Labour Party to confront us and stop our dream but this will definitely fail. We are adamant about winning. We worked very hard for it over the last ten years. We will not be deterred by the new wave of LP.

“Everything needed to be done to ensure victory we have done, nothing will stop our victory on Saturday. We’ve got our sights set on the prize. The battle is not against Jandor, but against the Lord, as in the story of Gideon. And, by God’s grace, we will use this election to free Lagosians from the shackles of godfatherism, which has ruled the state for many years”.

Referring to the ruling party, APC, the incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Tinubu, said “they are in the panic mood as the state governor, Sanwo-Olu has suddenly turned into a jelly-fish, running from pillar to post to save his job. If he has performed, there will be no need for all of this. ”

“We know they (APC) have been collecting Permanent Voter Cards, PVC, from the electorate to manipulate the poll results,” Jandor continued. But we assure them that this time will be different.

“They (APC) do not have a monopoly on insanity. Machines have been set up to detect any fraudulent moves. From polling places to collation centers, we will safeguard our voters’ votes.

“The goal of this election is to send the ruling APC packing. Stay calm and steadfast because the battle is of the Lord. We are going to win this election.

“To the electorate and PDP faithful, I urge you not to succumb to their threats, and intimidation. We will safeguard our votes. This time, our votes will count; come out in force on Saturday to exercise your rights.”

Jandor’s wife says something.

Mrs. Adediran was beaming with smiles and excitement as she arrived to a standing ovation from the cheering crowd.

She chastised the sponsors of the slander campaign against her family and husband on social media.

She claims to have been a part of her husband’s political movement and has always supported him from her home in the United States.

“I have been a part of this movement, and my husband and I agreed that he would be in Nigeria driving the movement, while I would be in the United States with the children,” she said.

“What people do in the name of politics on social media is disheartening. I’m not a big fan of social media, but I read everything they post.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you, our mothers, and the paharrasmentrty leaders who have been so supportive of my husband. I love you, and even though the election is only a few days away, we still have a lot to do together, and I know God will bless our efforts.”

Responding to questions from journalist as to the likelihood of relocating to Nigeria if her husband wins the election, she said, “I am always in Nigeria not just physically because I have my businesses here as well. I sell in Nigeria. My projects will not suffer even if I am not present because I have capable hands.”

“I am currently in Nigeria and will remain so. When my husband is elected Governor of Lagos State, we will discuss how we will collaborate, but I can assure you that the absence of the first lady will be felt.

“I will encourage women to have faith in themselves. I have a first degree and am working on my second, as well as my children and other businesses. Nobody can bring a woman down if she is determined.

“I will make sure that all the woman in this movement, not only here but also in Lagos stand on their feet and beige on themselves.

“I am always in Nigeria not just physically because I have my businesses here as well. I sell in Nigeria. My projects will not suffer even if I am not present because I have capable hands. I have to support my husband from the sidelines because we are not social people.”
