Pogba’s latest injury setback keeps him out of the Sampdoria game.

Juventus announced on Sunday that Paul Pogba will miss their Serie A match against Sampdoria due to yet another injury.

The meniscus in France midfielder Pogba’s right knee was injured in July, and he has been out nearly the entire season as a result. He was not named to the squad for the game on Sunday.

In a statement, Juve stated that Paul Pogba was absent from the team because of a muscle injury sustained during this morning’s training session.

The 29-year-old returned from Manchester United last summer but didn’t make his first appearance until the last week of last month, as a substitute in a derby victory over Torino. He then made an appearance off the bench in last Sunday’s loss at Roma.

In an effort to make the World Cup in Qatar, he initially decided to forgo surgery after suffering a knee injury during the preseason.

Pogba later changed his mind, but he was unable to recover in time to play for France, who ultimately lost the thrilling world championship match to Argentina.

After showing up late to a team meeting on Wednesday night, Massimiliano Allegri benched him for the first leg of Juventus’ Europa League round of 16 match against Freiburg.

The forwards Angel Di Maria and Federico Chiesa are also absent from the game on Sunday, but they should return in time for Freiburg’s game on Thursday.
