Abdullahi Adamu, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, lost his senatorial seat in Nasarawa Western Zone to Ahmed Wadada, candidate of the Social Democratic Party, in Saturday’s National Assembly elections.

Adamu was unable to deliver the APC candidate, Shehu Tukur, to replace him in the House of Representatives.

Prof Nasiruddeen Baba, the INEC returning agent for Nasarawa West Senatorial District, declared the winner at the zonal collation centre in Keffi, saying the SDP candidate received 96,488 votes, while the APC received 47,717 votes, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 46,820 votes, and the Labour Party (LP) 33,228 votes.

The APC also lost the Keffi/Kokona/Karu constituency to the Social Democratic Party, with Gaza Gwefwi remaining in office.

For the house of representatives elections, the SDP received 60,265 votes, the APC received 28,417 votes, the LP received 29655 votes, and the PDP received 33,180 votes.

Similarly, Godiya Akwashiki, the SDP candidate for Nasarawa North Senatorial District, won the seat, while Abubakar Dahiru retained his seat for Lafia/Obi federal constituency.

According to the electoral body, the SDP has two senators and two members of the House of Representatives.

The SDP’s four winners are former APC members who defected due to irregularities in the party’s primary elections last year.
