The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of seven suspects in connection with the killing of one Toyin Adeniji, who was said to be one of the aides of a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Dapo Sarumi.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Adeniji was at the front of his house on Oyewole Road, in the Agege area of the state when suspected cultists invaded the premises and shot him dead.

It was learnt that seven other persons, who were at the scene, escaped death by a whisker as the suspects shot sporadically during the operation.

While some people claimed that Adeniji was killed by suspected cultists, some other persons, while speaking to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, said the victim was killed during a fracas involving transport workers in the area.

Contacted, the state Police Public Relations, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in his reaction to the development, said seven suspects had been arrested in connection with the death of the 47-year-old.

He said, “Yes, one Toyin Adeniji, was shot dead on Monday. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department and seven suspects have been arrested and are currently at the SCID.”
